Throughout my life I have used photography, as a compositional tool, to document the world around me. My investigative work with Jacquard weaving and embroidery has allowed me to use photographic imagery in a very direct and uncomplicated way. This work is related to my tapestries on a conceptual level but is technically and visually quite different. The cotton fabric is woven at a mill (the Oriole Mill in NC) and then I manipulate the image with dye and/or embroidery.
